Jemma

Press ⌘C twice to keep what you copied.

A menu bar app for macOS. Double ⌘C saves the selection as a note. The last 50 notes live in a dropdown, and the newest ten are a retrievable back to clipboard via keyboard shortcuts. Built for the shell commands, IDs, snippets and URLs you need again ten minutes later.

Keys

⌘C ⌘CSave the selection. The first press still copies as usual.
⌃⌥VOpen the dropdown from anywhere. Rebindable.
⌘1–0Copy note 1–10 while the dropdown is open.
⇧⌘1–0Delete note 1–10. Hold ⇧ to see delete on every row.

Scripting

Copy a note by position from a shell, Raycast, Alfred or anything else that opens URLs:

# newest note to the clipboard
open -g jemma://copy/1

Save from a pipe without touching the clipboard. Turn on Save from scripts in Settings, then add this to your shell config (macOS 15 ships jq):

jemma() { open -g "jemma://save?text=$(jq -sRr 'rtrimstr("\n") | @uri')"; }

kubectl get pods | jemma

Any app or web page can open a jemma:// link, so this is off by default. When it's on, every save shows a confirmation, notes are labelled jemma://save, and saves are limited to 10 a minute.

Any app's Services menu also has Save to Jemma, which doesn't need the ⌘C listener.
